MAIT was established in 1982 for the promotion of scientific, educational and IT industry. MAIT is an apex body representing the Hardware, Training, Design/R&D and the associated service sector of the Indian IT Industry. MAIT aims to promote the usage of IT in India, strengthen the role of IT in national economic development and promote business through international alliances. It focuses on domestic market development and attracting foreign investment in the Indian IT Industry. The MAIT membership includes Corporate and Affiliate members. The Corporate Members are engaged in manufacture of IT products or provide services or in any other closely related IT business and the Affiliate Members support the cause of MAIT.
MAIT seeks to interface with the Central Government on Policy issues and regular dissemination of Policy information to its members. MAIT promotes quality consciousness in the IT industry and transform the Indian IT industry into World Scale Industry leading to a World Class Usage. MAIT supervises the performance of the IT industry in order to ensure the growth and development of the same. MAIT hires reputed international consultants for data-collection and compilation of industry statistics on bi-annual basis.
