Coal Mines Provident Fund and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1948

The Coal Mine Workers are governed by the Coal Mines Provident Fund and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1948. The Coal Mines Provident Fund Organization formed under this act, is a statutory organization. This Organization is a repository and custodian of the provident fund and other contributions received from the members and their employer-organizations in the Coal Mine Sector, both in the public and private sectors in the country.

The plantation industry is regulated by the Plantations Labour Act, 1951, EPF & M.P. Act, 1952, The Tea Act, 1953 (See http://www.commerce.nic.in/tea_act.pdf),
The Coffee Act, 1942 (See http://commerce.nic.in/Coffee%20Act.pdf) and
Rubber Act (See http://commerce.nic.in/Rubber%20Act.pdf), and
The Assam Tea Plantation Provident Fund Scheme (1955). The Seamen Provident Fund Scheme, 1966 (See www.dgshipping.com/dgship/final/rules/spfc_act_66_final.doc) governs the provident fund matters of Seamen and applies to every Seaman and to the employer of such Seaman.
