The Press Council of India's Norms of Journalistic Conduct
There should be a code of conduct for every profession to ensure its progress along with social accountability. The Press council of India has set a code of journalistic norms with an objective to build up a code of conduct for newspapers, news agencies and journalists in accordance with high professional standards and on the basis of its adjudications of various cases. The code of journalistic norms have been set to ensure the maintenance of high standards of public taste on the part newspapers, news agencies and journalists and to develop a due sense of the rights and responsibilities of citizenship and public service among all those engaged in the profession of journalism.
