A full fledged handicraft production cum training centre is functioning under the department with only three staff and three workers. Annually ten to fifteen local youths are trained in the centre for one year and after completion they are encouraged to set up their own units.
The following incentives are proposed to be provided to the entrepreneurs for developing all round industrial developments of the islands:
25% capital investment subsidy
Interest subsidy over and above 7% on the term loan for putting up any type of Industrial activity.
50 % Capital subsidy to group activity/ Industrial Coop Societies.
50 % Capital Subsidy Programmes promoted by woman entrepreneurs.
Subsidy of 30% Industrial Current Consumption Charge.
Conducting of EDP one year including training programme.
Scheme orientation at mainland for EDP programme.
Two days motivation awareness programme for EDP trainees.
Two days awareness programme for existing Entrepreneurs.
Exclusive EDP programme for women.
Payment of stipend for EDP trainees.
To deposit one crore additional amount to LDCL to provide Credit Guarantee for major Industrial programme to be set up by the local entrepreneurs.
To provide estt. Cost of the Credit Guarantee Scheme to LDCL.
90 % Transport subsidy for movement of raw materials and finished goods between islands and mainland
75 % transport Subsidy for inter island movement of raw materials and finished goods.
50% subsidy for setting up of power generation systems for Industrial purposes.
50% subsidy for setting up of water harvesting system for Industrial purpose.
Construction of Industrial sheds to be given to the local entrepreneurs on nominal rent basis.
Arrangement of training for local youths to take up locally available employment for a maximum period of one year.
Payment of monthly stipend to the trainees.
Payment of professional charges for training Instructors/ trainees.
