An application for a Decree has to be made in order to finalize a Divorce, Judicial Separation or Nullity of Marriage. In divorce proceedings, this is done in 2 stages. An application for Decree Nisi has to be made. If the other partner returns the "Acknowledgment of Service Form" to the court without any objection, then signing an affidavit can complete the process and a “request for Directions for Trial Form” can be submitted. These things can be done from the local county court. Next the court shall send a copy of the Decree Nisi to both the spouses. An application for making the decree “Absolute” can be filed after waiting for a period of 6 months and a day from the date of the Decree Nisi. An application has to be made to the court by sending "Notice of Application for Decree Nisi to be made Absolute Form”. This form is also available in the nearest county court on payment of a court fee or you have to fill up a Fees exemption Form
