International Shipments of Waste

The legal controls on international shipments of waste are mainly contained in the Transfrontier Shipments of Waste Regulations 1994. These are in enforcement of European Community Regulations designed to control the movement of hazardous wastes worldwide and to stop the illegal transshipment of waste. This is the result of increasing concern globally over this sensitive issue.
