The Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Rules, 1982 defines the procedures of the meetings of the Central Pollution Control Board and the powers entrusted to them. The amendment of 1987 in the Factories Act, 1948 has provisions regarding working environment of the workers and hazardous processes which refer to its focus on environment. The Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Amendment Act, 1987 empowers the central and state pollution control boards to meet with grave emergencies of air pollution. The Atomic Energy Act, 1982 deals with the radioactive waste. The Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 envisages that all hazardous waste is to be properly packaged, labeled, and transported.
