Provisions Relating to Environment in the Criminal Law
Chapter XIV of the Indian Penal Code lays down specific offences affecting the public health and safety which includes provisions relating public nuisance, negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life, adulteration of food and drink, sale of noxious food and drink, adulteration of drugs, fouling water of public spring or reservoir, making atmosphere noxious to health, etc.(See http://nrcw.nic.in/shared/sublinkimages/59.pdf). Chapter X (B) of the Code of Criminal Procedure contains certain Court procedures relating to removal of nuisance and apprehended danger.
