The Women’s Bureau has been set up within the Department of Labor which is placed under a lady director to be appointed by the President by and with the advice and consent of the Senate. The duties of the Women’s Bureau are:-
Articulate standards and policies which promote the welfare of earning women
Improve their working conditions
Increase their efficiency
Advance their opportunities for profitable employment.
The Women’s Bureau has the authority to investigate and report to the Department of Labor upon all matters relating to the welfare of women in industry.
The director the bureau is authorised to publish the results of the investigations in a manner as the Secretary of Labor may ascertain.
There is also an assistant-director who is appointed by the Secretary of Labor. The assistant director is responsible to perform those duties which are prescribed by the director and approved by the Secretary of Labor.
