Shipping crime may include the following acts:
- Conspiracy to destroy vessels
- Firing or tampering with vessels
- Breaking and entering vessel
- Violence against maritime navigation
- Transportation of explosive, biological, chemical, or radioactive or nuclear materials
- Transportation of terrorists
Any person in the US, who conspires to destroy a vessel, shall face a fine or imprisonment for a term not more than ten years, or both
Any person, who sets fire to any vessel of foreign registry, or to any vessel of the United States, shall face a fine or imprisonment for a maximum period of twenty years, or both.
Any person, convicted of breaking and entering a vessel shall face a fine or imprisonment for a term up to five years or both.
Similarly, a person, convicted for transportation of terrorists, shall be fined or imprisoned for any term of years or even for life, or both.
