The judicial power of the United States is vested on the Supreme Court and in other inferior courts as the Congress may from time to time direct and establish. The Judges, both of the Supreme and inferior courts, hold their offices during good behavior, and receive for their services a compensation which is not be diminished during their continuance in office.

The US Supreme Court consists of the Chief Justice and eight associate justices. The cases decided by the Supreme Court may typically involve important questions about the Constitution or the federal law.

The US is divided into 94 judicial districts which are structured into 12 regional circuits, each of which has a Court of Appeals. A Court of Appeals hears appeals from the district courts within its circuit and appeals from decisions of federal administrative agencies.
