The MPs and the lords are expected to stick to high standard of living in their public life. The MPs and the Lords have separate codes of conduct, which guide them as to how they should carry themselves in public.
The Standard in the House of Commons
In the House of Commons the Code of Conduct is set by the Parliamentary Commissioner for the Standards and the Committee on Standards and Privileges. MPs are entitled to a wide range of allowances that concern their Parliamentary duties.

The MPs have a specified code of conduct which they have to adhere to while imparting their Parliamentary duties.
Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards
Sir Philip Mawer is at present the Parliamentary commissioner for Standards. He is responsible to advise the MPs as to how they should behave when the Parliament is in session. He is also responsible to investigate into complaints. He advises the committee on Standards and Privileges. If any complaint has to be made stating that any MP has breached the Code of Conduct, the same should be addressed to the Commissioner.
Committee on Standards and Privileges
The Commons committee on Standards and Privileges decides on the complaints made against individual MPs reported to them by the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards.

The Commons Committee on Standards in Public Life, which was earlier known as the Nolan Committee is an independent committee set up in 1994.The House of Commons had to make certain changes in the conduct of MPs following the recommendations of the Commons Committee on Standards in Public Life.
