Every one in UK has the right to consult the concerned MP of his constituency regarding certain matters. Each Mp will only look after the problems of the constituents of his constituency.
Necessity to contact a MP
MPs are able to help more when the problems are concerning issues that the Parliament and the Government are responsible for. They include matters like :
Tax
National Health Services and Hospitals
National Insurance, benefits and pensions
Immigration
Closure of schools and grants.
When the Local Councils or the Citizen’s Advice Bureau is to be contacted
For issues that are not directly related to the parliament or the Government, one must first go to the Local Councils and the Citizen’s Advice Bureau before contacting the concerned MP. These include issues like:
Council Tax
Private quarrels with neighbours, landlords, employers, family, companies who have sold faulty good to you
Street repairs or dustbins, that are very much within the purview of the Local Council.
