The most common type of Bills introduced in Parliament are the Public Bills and they change the law because they are applicable to the public at large. Majority of the Bills are proposed by the Government Ministers
Introduction of Public Bills
A Public Bill may either be introduced in the House of Commons or in the House of Lords and it usually has to go through a number of stages in both the Houses. Bills involving public money are always introduced in the House of Commons.
When a Public Bill becomes a Law
If a Bill is passed by both the Houses of the Parliament, then it becomes an Act. The Public Bills are bindings upon the general public.
Opposition to a Public Bill
Public can also raise their objections to Public Bills by:
Write to the MP or Lord
Write to the government department wherefrom the Bill is initiated
Lobbying parliament
Depositing evidence to the concerned Public Bill Committee.
