When a MP initiates an issue in the House of Commons, the same is immediately revealed to the press and it is also made public. The press plays a huge role in setting the Government ministers to move.
Enquiry
MPs can either verbally ask questions to the Government Ministers or cal also write them. The government is under the obligation to answer parliamentary writt4en questions. The actual questions and answers that are discussed in the House of Commons are laid down in a document known as the Hansard,
Adjournment Debates
The MPs also get ample opportunity to raise various questions in the half an hour adjournment debate session that is given to the MPs. This is usually done in the last hour of the day. Here, the MPs must either win a ballot or be chosen by the Speaker to voice their grievance.
Bills of Private Members
In an attempt to pass a new law, a MP might introduce a Private Member’s Bill. Although very few of these Bills are successful, they often draw the public attention and in turn solves the problem.
Limitations
The Code of Conduct restricts the Ministers from raising any matter in the House. There are internal party rules that also restrict Parliamentary Private Secretaries and opposition spokesmen.
