Duties of the MP
The members of the Parliament are elected by the people of England. The elected MPs represent the common people in the House of Commons. The MPs have the power to initiate new laws and also question the Ministers of the Government regarding the current issues. The MPs manage their time in such a manner that they can give ample time to the Parliament, their constituencies as well as to the political party to which they belong. Sometimes, the ruling party MPs become Government Ministers with certain particular projects that are assigned to them like defence or health.
Responsibilities in the Parliament
When the Parliament is in session, the MPs generally spend their time in the House of Commons because issues relating to their constituencies may be raised, participating in debates and giving their consent on new laws. Most MPs are members of committees that look after important governmental matters like government policy, new laws and larger topics like Human Rights.
MPs duties in the Constituency
The MPs often organize “Surgery” in their Constituencies where the people can come in with their grievances. The MPs also visit the hospitals, schools and other organizations within their constituencies, so that they can meet as much people as they can so that they can put them forward and discuss them when they go to the Westminster.
