The members of the house of Lords can be contacted by the public. It is pertinent to mention here that the Lords donot have any specific jurisdiction like that of the MPs. The most effective way to contact a Lord is by writing. The Peers are not paid and very few of the Lords have secretaries or office back up. Most of the time, the Lords are busy with their work in the Parliament, in the House of Lords chamber, in a committee or in a meeting. Most of the time, the Lords are away from their offices.
Telephone
If a Lord has to be contacted, then the main parliament switchboard has to be called on 020 7219 3000 and if the Lord has a listed telephone number, then the operator will connect to that number. There is also a message service number where a message can be left for a particular Lord and the number to dial is 020 7219 5353.
