It is always better to call the MP, rather than writing because the former gives a faster remedy. Before contacting a MP, one should be absolutely clear that he is contacting the right MP i.e. the MP of his constituency. The only thing that has to be done is that a member from a particular constituency can call at the phone number of the House of Commons switchboard on 020 7219 3000 and ask for the concerned MP If the concerned MP’s name is unknown, then the person call on 020 7219 4272, which is the information office of the House of Commons can be made. The concerned MP may also be contacted through the local constituency office. The local libraries, town halls, MP’s personal website or the House of Commons’ information Office might assist you with the addresses and contact numbers of the MPs.

Every letter to a MP should be addressed to: House of Commons London SW1A 0AA. In the letter, one can give a vivid description of one’s problem and the MP will also have a record of the problem.

There is no common fax number for the House of Commons. The relevant MP’s office has to be contacted first in case a person has tos end a fax to the MP.
