The London Court of International Arbitration is an international institution based in London. This institution provides the service of international arbitration and a forum for dispute resolution proceedings for all parties regardless of their location or system of law.
The main focus of the institution is on arbitration and the provisional or formal arbitration tribunals. Mediation, a form of alternative dispute resolution is also an important function of the London Court of International Arbitration. The London Court of International Arbitration is the oldest international institutions for commercial dispute resolution with most advanced operation and outlook, efficient, flexible and impartial administration of dispute resolution proceedings. The LCIA ensures that the parties may have complete confidence in its international credentials and in its impartiality. The organisation of the LCIA works under a three-tier structure, consisting of the Company, the Arbitration Court and the Secretariat. The LCIA rules are properly implemented by the final authority, i.e., the London Court of International Arbitration. The London Court of International Arbitration Secretariat is headed by Registrar. The Secretariat is situated at the International Dispute Resolution Centre in London and is accountable for the day to day administration of all disputes referred to the LCIA. Being universally applicable the LCIA arbitration rules present a combination of the best features of the civil and common law systems.
